Q: What do you guys do?

A: First and foremost we build beautiful websites that work. We specialise in designing, developing and marketing websites for small-to-medium businesses all over Australia.

We’re leaders in our industry, providing exceptional service and products to our clients at a fraction of the cost of larger website companies and digital houses. Our websites don’t only look stunning, they’re passionately developed so that you can get the most out of your website. We don’t have a “set and forget” mentality, after your new website is live, we actively work with you to achieve your businesses goals and objectives online.

Q: Are you the right company for my price range?

A: If you’re looking for a website for a couple of hundred dollars, AWE isn’t the company for you. Infact, as far as budget is concerned, you don’t want a website in this price range at all. Our advice to clients is always the same: “allocate a decent budget now, and avoid headaches down the track.”

If your budget is $10,000, $20,000 or even $30,000, AWE also isn’t the right company for you, however we can recommend you to some credible local companies who provide excellent service to clients in this budget range.

If you’re a serious, emerging or established small-to-medium business, with a budget of $500-$6000, then AWE is absolutely the right company for you. For your money, AWE plans and designs your new website to perform well in Google, researches keywords so that your customers and clients can find your website, and then our professional copywriting team write compelling copy that makes your website particularly attractive to Google.

Q: What’s included in an AWE website?

A: We like to think of ourselves as a full-service agency. We don’t like jumping onto projects midway or halfway through and this is because we love developing websites from start to finish. We’re often asked “So what isn’t included?”, “The price looks great – but what don’t you do?”

Quite simply, we do it all. You’ll come to AWE without a website (or with an existing website that needs to be upgraded), and leave with an incredible new website that’s designed to reflect your business and something that you’re truly proud of.

Q: How do you guys keep the cost so low?

A: While AWE is certainly cheaper than a lot of companies, we don’t think of ourselves as a budget agency. Our perspective is that larger Australian website development companies are simply charging far too much. Simple websites, with little design, optimisation and often terrible customer service/ support, can often cost you $6,000+.

Australian Web Experts (AWE) is able to keep costs lower than traditional web development companies by focusing on being a volume-based business, we specialise in getting small-to-medium businesses online and there’s a lot of small businesses out there. If we’re able to continue servicing small-to-medium businesses right across Australia, via word-of-mouth and goodwill, we can keep our project costs lower and continue to pass this saving onto our clients.

We are often asked by prospective clients “How are you guys so cheap? We’ve been quoted over $6,000 for the same product. Are you guys legitimate?” Of course these larger companies quoting absorbent prices for simple websites aren’t helping the market, and it creates large roadblocks for our clients.

AWE is here to show Australian business owners that website design, development, copywriting, hosting and Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) doesn’t have to be expensive. In fact, if we can get more small-to-medium business owners saying no to paying $6,000+ for simple websites, we’ll be able to achieve more affordable costs (and better websites!) for everyone.

Q: Where is AWE located?

A: We’re proud to be in each Australian state, excluding the territories, with our Head Office being in Melbourne. You can view our Get In Touch page to see where we are physically available in each state, however, please note: we cannot accept ‘walk-ins’ and require all booking arrangements to be made in advance.

But don’t fret if we can’t organise a face-to-face meeting. In fact, we’ve never met 99.9% of our clients – this is the beauty of what we do, we’re digital! We typically conduct business over the good old telephone, email and even Skype.

At the commencement of your new website, you’ll be allocated a Project Manager who you’ll always be able to directly reach over email, mobile and our Support Hotline. We’re incredibly focused on customer service and we always respond to client enquiries within 24 hours.

Q: Do you develop every website on WordPress?

A: Each AWE website is developed on the world-leading WordPress CMS. There are more websites built on WordPress than any other CMS in the world, and there are quite a few reasons for this.

WordPress is an incredibly powerful, robust CMS that gives developers, designers and clients absolute design control and autonomy of their websites. WordPress is also our CMS of choice because WordPress websites rank incredibly well in Google. Forget Squarespace and Wix – WordPress is for serious designers and developers who develop incredible looking websites that rank extremely well in Google, and always run optimally.

Q: Can I make changes to my website after it’s live? Can I self-manage my new website?

A: Absolutely! We will provide you with a Customised Training Manual so that you can log into your website and make minor changes – such as adding new photos, changing text, adding new pages and modifying minor design elements. We will provide you with training on how to use the manual and manage your new website, which is quite intuitive and easy to use.

We can also provide tailored website management packages for clients who require a dedicated monthly update made to their websites – such as adding a new batch of project imagery, writing blog posts and the like.

Q: I need a website but I’d better get a logo first. Do you design logos too?

A: We have a dedicated design team who understand the importance of logos and they love designing them for small businesses. An incredible looking logo can really make or break your new website and online presence. Get in touch with AWE and we can discuss your exact logo requirements.

Q: How do the monthly payment plans work?

A: Over on our Website Packages page, you can see that we offer our websites on a 12-month payment plan, or in full upfront. Our monthly payment plans don’t cost anything extra and are a popular choice for our clients, assisting them with managing cash flow. After you’ve paid off the design and development your website, over a 12 month period, your monthly payment will revert to a minor website hosting fee.

Q: Do you require a deposit to commence my new website?

A: If you are electing to pay via monthly instalments, we require a $100 deposit to commence your new website, with the first monthly payment processed within 3 business days of commencement of your new website. If you would like to pay for your new website in full, we require a 50% deposit to start your new website, with the balance payable on completion of the project.

Because there is an enormous amount of planning, research, analysis and effort involved in designing and developing your new website, we require a firm commitment from you. By paying a deposit, you are displaying a commitment to us that ensures we will complete your new website, but also holds us accountable to fulfil our end of the agreement.

Q: I have an existing website but it’s terrible. Can you fix it?

A: Unfortunately, the answer is always no. Previous projects have taught us that it’s always more efficient and effective to start from scratch, from both a financial and timeline perspective. We can design a new website that will look similar to your existing website, but we’ll always need to start from scratch.

Q: What is “responsive design”?

A: A website that incorporates responsive design simply means that your new website looks incredible across Desktop, Laptop, Tablet and Mobile devices. In today’s current digital landscape, your clients could be viewing your website on a number of different platforms and it is imperative that your website looks incredible across all devices. This is the beauty of working with AWE, all of our websites are completely responsive – ensuring your website is always displayed correctly, no matter the device it is being view on.

Q: I need my new website completed within a week. Can this be done?

A: A website that is professionally planned, designed and developed, with compelling copywriting, beautiful graphics and optimised images will never be completed within a week. While we could certainly develop a new website within a couple of days, it wouldn’t be one that we are proud of.

Our timelines vary between 10 and 20 business days (2-4 weeks) and your Project Manager will discuss this with you at the commencement of your new website. Generally speaking, your new website will be up and running within 28 days of the commencement of the project – this takes into account collecting the required information from you to start the website, draft designs and three rounds of revisions.

Q: I need custom emails with my website and I need them to work on all of my devices. Can you help?

A: This is another reason our clients love working with AWE – we take care of it all. If you host your existing URL (or get us to register a URL for you), we can host all of your emails too. We’ll register as many email accounts as you require and assist you with setting your emails up across all of your devices.

Q: Is there an additional cost for yearly hosting of my website and emails?

A: The first year hosting of your website and emails with AWE is always free. Every year thereafter, we charge a small fee or $200 + GST, which you can pay upfront or we can Direct Debit from your nominated account monthly. The yearly hosting fee covers the security, maintenance and upkeep of your website, Domain Name Registration and email hosting.

Q: You insist on hosting each clients’ website. Why?

A: AWE insists on hosting our clients’ websites so that we can ensure our clients’ websites are online, as secure as possible and up to date. Quite simply, AWE hosts your website so that we can manage it. Managed hosting means that we can take care of all your server-related issues. If we don’t host a website, we cannot ensure it will keep working and cannot provide the service you require for a professional website.

Q: What is “SEO” and do I really need it?

A: Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is the process of getting your website to organically appear higher in Google search results for specific keywords and search terms, so that prospective clients can find your business. While SEO isn’t for everyone, it is a vital element to any business that is looking to rank higher in Google and market their business to more people. Our expert SEO team are leaders in the SEO space, managing effective SEO campaigns for hundreds of clients across Australia.

Q: I know that I need a website but I don’t know how it should look or what should be on it. Can you help?

A: Don’t fret! You aren’t the first, and you certainly won’t be the last, client in this exact situation. You’re an expert in your business and we’re experts in websites. In the initial phases, we will collect as much information about your business as we can so that we can put forward cohesive design concepts.

We don’t expect you to know exactly what you want, which is why we will come up with several concepts to see what you like best. Our clients are always incredibly happy with the outcome of the design of their new website.

Q: If you specialise in web design, development, branding, hosting and SEO – are you guys a jack of all trades but master of none?

A: Absolutely not! We have specialists employees who are all highly-skilled and trained in their area of expertise. For example – we have a team made up of digital strategists, graphic designers, web developers, SEO specialists, account managers and support staff. Each staff member has a good understanding of the overall process, with experts in each field and operation of getting your new website designed and developed.

Q: Do you provide other services?

A: From email and domain registration, website design and development, right through to full-blown digital marketing campaigns – AWE has you covered. We are digital, which says little but encompasses everything that we do. Talk to us more to find out which of our services best suits you and your requirements.

Q: I know that you answer the phone during business hours, but what happens if something goes wrong with my website outside of these hours?

A: The beauty of modern-day communications is that help is never far away. If you need help outside regular hours, send an email to our support desk and we’ll assess your problem and determine whether it’s urgent or can wait until the next business day.

If the emergency is the result of something we’ve done – and that’s unlikely – then we’ll cover the cost. But if the problem with your website is something you’ve done – and that’s also unlikely but not impossible – we will have to charge for the repairs, as well as an out-of-hours fee if the repairs are urgent and outside traditional working hours.

Please note, we do not guarantee we will be available out of hours and we cannot help with email problems that are not AWE-provided emails.
